Located on the island of Ibiza on the northeast coast, the tiny resort of Playa es Cana is just a little piece of paradise. Slightly further north than Santa Eulalia, Es Cana is everything you could imagine or want in a quiet, peaceful and tranquil holiday destination. A rounded horseshoe-shaped bay with warm Mediterranean waters licks the shore of a pale golden sandy beach. Family friendly (actually think family fantastic!), the beach is soft, there are no dangerous currents and the water is like a mirror. There is a baby-sized harbour at one end of the bay and there are a few watersports on offer.
Low-key is the best word to describe Playa es Cana holidays. The resort is far enough north to be clear of party town, but you never get the feeling that you are missing any action. Very much a family style holiday venue, there are a few bars, cafes and restaurants (and plenty more in Santa Eulalia close by) and a clean, safe bathing beach. A dinky little tourist train runs during the summer and is the ideal way to discover the pretty north coast of Ibiza. The harbour also arranges boat trips to some secluded coves and day trips to nearby resorts.
A current, valid Passport is necessary for all visitors to Spain. Irish citizens do not need a visa.
Activities
Take a boat trip to Santa Eulalia close by. Join in the watersports or hire a boat yourself. Visit the Sunday morning Hippie Market at Santa Eulalia. Gran the local bus to Ibiza Town to discover this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site.
