Vibrant Vilamoura Holidays
Now here’s posh! Vilamoura is a very upmarket and lovely resort on the Algarve coast. Purpose built around a natural marina (crammed to bursting with elaborate boats, expensive yachts and commercial craft for hire), Vilamoura holidays are a force to be reckoned with. Quite a number of the Algarve’s top class hotels are located in this area too, so Vilamoura has certainly attracted the rich and famous, so old money and nouveau riche all mingle together like a happy band of escudo and euro. Permanently tanned bodies parade the marina rim and the waterside cafes are people watching paradise. Vilamoura is absolutely the resort to choose if you enjoy sailing as there are many options to hire or learn to sail. In fact, water based activities in general are the big thing here and the local beach has many watersports on offer. The other sport, of course, is golf…
Upmarket and elegant, everything about Vilamoura holidays smacks money. From the expensive yachts moored in the marina to the quality restaurants lining the front, you know there is a touch of class in the Algarve’s Vilamoura. Sleek catamarans sidle close to the harbour wall, waiting for the daily “catch” of rich tourists to sail away to a nearby secluded bay and help them unload their cash on a few drinks on-board. Like a twin (but not identical!), the local resort of Quarteira, right beside Vilamoura, is a great option to enjoy some traditional fish dishes and local bars. The weekly market there is a lot of fun too. Close to several excellent golf courses, Vilamoura is an ideal choice as your holiday setting - play a few holes on a world class course nearby, have a cool drink at the 19th, then return to Vilamoura for top quality food in a restaurant at the water’s edge.
