You’ll never be bored on Algarve holidays! Kids will find plenty of activities to keep them entertained, parents can enjoy lazy days by the pool or on the beach, gaze out into the turquoise waters of the Atlantic with a beer in hand, or wander around the quaint harbour towns while revelling in the traditional Portuguese charm.
The beach resort of Monte Gordo is the place to go for white sands and blue seas while Portimao Harbour offers Al Fresco restaurants and small bars for those who want to kick back and unwind. The resorts of Albufeira and Lagos have plenty of options for pubs and clubs, and will appeal to those looking for a buzzing nightlife. If you fancy more of a city feel while on holiday in the Algarve, head to the region’s capital, Faro. The city still holds its traditional charm, but has all the amenities of a big city. The stunning architecture and fascinating history make Lisbon the ideal location for culture vultures.
The magnificence of the Algarve's coast can never be downplayed. With gorgeous resorts, an abundance of water sports on offer, white sand shorelines and charming harbour towns sprinkled along the region’s sun-doused shore, one look and you will be in love. There is familiarity in the Atlantic coastline that meanders in and out of deep bays, foaming drops of water creeping up golden banks of soft sand and huge rocky outcrops jutting up like giant’s teeth from the blue depths – bliss!
The Algarve is world famous for its golf, and for good reason! Home to over 40 golf courses, including many which rank in the top 100 in Europe, it would be a shame to visit the region and not dust off the irons. Some resorts are better than others for golf, with Vilamoura, Alvor, Lagos and Albufeira all popular haunts. Whatever it is you want from Algarve holidays, we cannot recommend this region enough.
