Welcome to Majorca

Majorca

Discover Holidays to Majorca

Is Majorca one of the first package holiday destinations from Ireland? Such is the popularity of this beloved Balearic Island that it sometimes overshadows Spain itself. Basking like a great lazy porpoise off the east coast of mainland Spain, Majorca is the biggest of the island group and it surely takes its fair share of the limelight. The sunshine is evenly shared though and Majorca has a lovely climate, just perfect for us Paddy’s. With a Mediterranean climate and the Mediterranean sea lapping the shores, there is even a Mediterranean diet. So, we’re healthy and happy all the way on a Majorca holiday! The island has some superb holiday resorts and names like Cala D'Or, Cala Millor and Palma Nova trip off the tongue like Skerries, Bray or Courtown. Plenty of touristy things to do, yet with magical places where local life goes on about its business, a holiday in Majorca could surprise you…. Sssh, whisper – there are quite a few excellent golf courses too.

Arriving into Palma for your Majorca holidays (just over 2 hours flying time from Ireland), your resort is never too far away. Although the island is fairly big, the road network is excellent, so you’ll be settling into your hotel or apartment in a jiffy. Majorca is a very professional tourism provider, so expect all the normal amenities for top notch holidays. The resorts have great infrastructure and the beaches are maintained in pristine condition. Long curvy swathes of pale golden sand, some with secret coves and private bays, others with boats and pedaloes for hire, are all a world just awaiting your little bucket and spade.  Buzzing resorts with huckster shops, souvenir stalls and tourist paraphernalia are everywhere and nightlife is geared for every imaginable market.

A current valid Passport is necessary for entry everywhere in mainland Spain and the islands. No visa required for Irish citizens.

Shopping

Majorca is marvellous for shopping. The capital city, Palma, has up to the minute stores (check out El Corte Ingles) and trendy boutiques and clothes are a bargain. Good shoes and leather boots are great buys too. Local olive oil and hand painted ceramics should be on the shopping list too.

Time

Majorca is one hour ahead of Ireland in summer time.
